From the "Cuba Series" started in the early 1970s.
This mixed media painting was done while the artist was a student at the University of Washington School of Art (1977-1981). The work incorporates a mirror behind a cut out in the shape of the island of Cuba with embedded pins (as jail bars). Thus the reflection of nthe viewer is their face behind bars. This is one of several prototypes for a larger work done also in 1981.
