From the "Cuba Series" started in the early 1970s.
This painting was done while the artist was a student at the University of Washington School of Art (1977-1981). On this piece, painted are the words
"La mar, testigo de mi ansiedad, las veces que me ha visto llorar, cuando otro hijo se me va."
The words in Spanish translate to:
"The sea, witness to my anxiety, the times that it has seen me cry when another son leaves me".
